BEIS launches SEG to guarantee payment for homes and businesses

BEIS confirmed on 9 June that the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) is to replace the Feed-in Tariff export tariff. It said this will ensure that small-scale electricity generators installing solar, wind or other forms of renewable generation with a capacity up to 5MW will be paid for electricity they export to the grid. SEG will place a legal obligation on energy suppliers with over 150,000 customers to introduce export tariffs by 1 January 2020, which will apply to suppliers accounting for over 90% of the market.

New Anglia Energy has actively campaigned for a guaranteed route to market for micro-generation exports for new sites up to 5MW.
