The Chairs of both the Commons Science and Technology Committee and the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Committee issued a statement on 7 June criticising the government for its decision to carry over some of its over-achievement in the second Carbon Budget to the third Carbon Budget. But Norman Lamb and Rachel Reeves also noted that, on Tuesday 11 June, the Government will be introducing legislation into the House of Commons “to make the net zero 2050 commitment a statutory obligation for this government and governments to follow”.
